Background / Mission

TwoGirls is the partnership created by Rebecca Sacco and Alex Hughes to consolidate our ideas, design concepts, production and intellectual property surrounding The Fregie Sack. We initially met through our local Parent’s Group after the birth of our daughters. As a few of the mums using cloth nappies, we realised we shared the same concerns and environmental conscience and had a similar desire to raise our children in a more sustainable world.

Our official partnership was formed in the 2006 and we started trading through the Internet shortly after as a means of testing the market and gaining consumer feedback. The response was overwhelmingly positive and led to our decision to pursue wider distribution. The way we see it, the less plastic bags being used, the better for everyone in terms of a sustainable future. Check the stockists page for a list of shops in your local area.

The development of The Fregie Sack came from our desire to eliminate excess packaging from our lives. The use of the small plastic bags offered to shoppers for their fruit and vegetables seemed a major part of that; they have little to no re-usable benefit and inevitably make up a significant proportion of household waste that goes to landfill or simply multiply in a cupboard somewhere.

After chatting about the possible solutions to reducing plastic usage, we were motivated to make a few bags for personal use as a means of replacing plastic bags in everyday grocery shopping. More were made as Christmas gifts for friends and family, whereupon we broadened the concept for consumer use and the partnership TwoGirls was created. Together we revised the design, established a name and logo and packaged them up into sets of 5 for sale. At this point in time, TwoGirls are focusing our energy on the production, branding and promotion of The Fregie Sack.

So put your vegies in a Fregie and say NO! to plastic pollution;
be part of the Fregie Revolution. We love having an empty plastic bag cupboard!
